2012 Post Officer Nominee: Adjutant
Victor L. van Leeuwen
Mr. van Leeuwen served in the United States Air Force from 1962 – 1966. Following basic training at Lackland AFB, TX, and ten months technical training at Keesler AFB, MS, Mr. van Leeuwen served as an electronics technician in (control) tower maintenance at Barksdale AFB, LA. Barksdale was a SAC base, but Mr. van Leeuwen was in a tenant command, the Air Force Communications Service.
After graduating from the University of Alabama in Huntsville on the GI Bill, Mr. van Leeuwen served as a maintenance engineering specialist with the US Army Missile Command for the HAWK air defense system and as a logistics/supportability specialist in the Patriot PMO, Joint Tactical Ground System PMO, Army Missile Defense System PMO and, finally, the Ground Based Interceptor PMO. Mr. van Leeuwen retired after 35 years service.
Mr. van Leeuwen is the current Adjutant for Post 229.
