June 2012 Meeting Minutes (Draft)

At our last meeting we took a few moments to remember a couple our fellow Legionaries, Hollis Bridges and Kevin Klienjung, who are are experiencing poor health. Commander Dow asked everyone to remember them, and all our military and civilians who are serving our great Nation in difficult places.

The turn-out in support of the Poppy Program in May was not as robust as we have had in years past. We were able to man the doors in front of Wal-Mart for Saturday only, but not able to have a presence at Kroger or Star Market at all. Remember that this effort is two-fold: it helps raise money for the post to be involved in activities in support of veterans and those currently serving, and it keeps alive the flame of remembrance for those who have fallen in combat. Please be cognizant of the need for your participation next year.

The post has received its order of T-Shirts for the Trail of Tears event later this year. If you are not familiar with the event that this ride commemorates, please click here. Shirts were folded on Wednesday the 20th,  in preparation for the event this fall. Thanks much to all those who helped.
