9 August 2012

Opening

The regular meeting of Madison American Legion Post 229 was called to order at 1900 on 9 August 2012 in the Madison Senior Center by Commander Jeremy B. Blevins.
Approval of Minutes

The minutes of the previous meeting were unanimously approved as distributed.

Unfinished business

  • Status of the monuments for the Veteran’s Memorial Park :
Carl Dow is procuring the stone monuments to replace the current weathered markers.
  • Trail of Tears Commemorative Bike Ride:
We need volunteers for Friday night, 14 September, and Saturday morning until the bikes roll out on the 15th.

New Business

  • Discussion regarding financial support for both of the Madison JRTOCs:
The Post will continue to provide $500/year to the JROTC programs, however, this may be done in the form of a flag set for James Clemens HS if their program does not currently have a set. The remainder of the $500.00 allocated would be then provided to JCHS JROTC. Jeremy Blevins will contact the JROTC instructor to determine if they need the flags.

The Amendments will be put for a vote of the members present at the September meeting as written in the August meeting agenda, WITH THE FOLLOWING EXCEPTION:
